Seasonal Flu Vaccination

flu vaccinationsFlu (also known as influenza) is a highly infectious illness caused by the flu virus. It spreads rapidly through small droplets coughed or sneezed into the air by an infected person.   For most people, flu is unpleasant but not serious. You will usually recover within a week.

Studies have shown that flu vaccines provide effective protection against the flu, although protection may not be complete and may vary between people. Protection from the vaccine gradually decreases and flu strains change over time. Therefore, new vaccines are made each year and people at risk of flu are encouraged to be vaccinated every year.

The flu vaccination is offered to people in at-risk groups. These people are at greater risk of developing serious complications if they catch flu, such as pregnant women and elderly people.

Annual reviews for chronic conditions

If you have a chronic condition such as asthma, COPD or diabetes then we have changed the way we will be inviting you for review. From April 2014 your annual review will be due in the month of your birthday.

Shingles vaccination

We are offering shingles vaccinations according to the government programme. If you were aged 70 or 79 on 1/9/2013 you may be eligible.

Parking at Wodeland Avenue

The car park at our Wodeland Avenue site is often full and we need to reserve space for our staff. Please note that patients can park on the road directly outside free for up to 2hrs.

Telephone lines

We have been experiencing an unusually high volume of calls which has meant some patients have had difficulties contacting us. Please note that you can book, change and cancel appointments on line.

New on line appointments service

We have moved to a new appointments system. Patients currently registered with our online booking system will need to re-register for the new system. Emergencies  
In the case of a life-threatening problem, dial 999 for an ambulance.  It is now advisable for anyone suffering acute, severe chest pain (especially if associated with sweating, pain in the neck or left arm or faintness) to dial 999. Any suspected "heart attack" is better dealt with directly by the paramedics in the Surrey Ambulance service.  The nearest casualty department is at the Royal Surrey County Hospital (01483) 571122
