Seasonal Flu Vaccination

flu vaccinationsFlu (also known as influenza) is a highly infectious illness caused by the flu virus. It spreads rapidly through small droplets coughed or sneezed into the air by an infected person.   For most people, flu is unpleasant but not serious. You will usually recover within a week.

Studies have shown that flu vaccines provide effective protection against the flu, although protection may not be complete and may vary between people. Protection from the vaccine gradually decreases and flu strains change over time. Therefore, new vaccines are made each year and people at risk of flu are encouraged to be vaccinated every year.

The flu vaccination is offered to people in at-risk groups. These people are at greater risk of developing serious complications if they catch flu, such as pregnant women and elderly people.

FLU CLINICS

We will be running clinics as below -

Saturdays 27/9, 4/10, 11/10, 18/10 at Wodeland Avenue.

Thursday 25/9 at Stoughton Road.

Tuesday 30/9 at The Oaks.

If you are over 65 and/or in a risk group and eligible for a vaccination please contact the surgery to book.

Children born between 2/9/09 and 1/9/12 will be eligible for vaccination this year under the government programme.

has now retired. His patients will now be looked after by Dr Pham.

Annual reviews for chronic conditions

If you have a chronic condition such as asthma, COPD or diabetes then we have changed the way we will be inviting you for review. From April 2014 your annual review will be due in the month of your birthday.

Parking at Wodeland Avenue

The car park at our Wodeland Avenue site is often full and we need to reserve space for our staff. Please note that patients can park on the road directly outside free for up to 2hrs.

Emergencies  
In the case of a life-threatening problem, dial 999 for an ambulance.  It is now advisable for anyone suffering acute, severe chest pain (especially if associated with sweating, pain in the neck or left arm or faintness) to dial 999. Any suspected "heart attack" is better dealt with directly by the paramedics in the Surrey Ambulance service.  The nearest casualty department is at the Royal Surrey County Hospital (01483) 571122
